I’m still just a kid October 29, 2006

I’m still just a kid. I still…

  • like to ride in shopping carts
  • lick the fillings in Oreo cookies before eating them
  • enjoy running around barefoot outside
  • get insanely wet whenever it rains
  • have impossible to suppress chocolate cravings
  • have unsurpassed excitement when it snows
  • have not developed a taste for baroque music
  • watch childish shows like The Simpsons
  • have the smallest attention span possibly conceived
  • am fascinated by the most useless and pointless things

So I drink five cups of coffee a day, stay up all night, solve pointless physics problems involving greased pigs, take four hours of notes on AP Euro and AP Psych, derivate countless equations, and write ten page essays. Other than that, I’m still just a kid.

What We’re Reading October 29, 2006

Wandering Pedestrians is a true student blog. We’re not recieving compensation (grades, monetary or otherwise) for writing. We’re writing because we like to write, like to communicate.

But we’re not alone.

I recently enabled the Blogroll section of our sidebar. The Blogroll gives us an opportunity to highlight some websites/blogs we’re reading. I wanted to highlight two of the blogs on the “roll” as other awesome examples of student blogging.

  • The Great IV – Go Koshka, Bani, Stunji and Pao! Admittedly these are some of the most unique people I know (with accompanying unique opinons). I think their blog is coming to reflect that.
  • Radioxide - Wandering Pedestrians too…carsy…for you? Check out Radioxide. Jordan’s Radioxide is admittedly more artsy, more inspirational, than Wandering Pedestrians will ever be.

Memories October 29, 2006

Why is it that memories fade? They fade into the past, always becoming fainter and fainter with each passing second. They pass from the reality of our memories to the lucidity of our dreams. Why is it that our memories have to fade? Why is it that I cannot hold on to those precious moments so dear to me? I wish I could remember. I wish I could close my eyes and relive the past, relive the joy and laughter, relive my memories. I wish I could remember past times, past friends, past joys. Every moment, comes to us, and then leaves. Every moment fades away. Every memory gone.

Friends October 29, 2006

This may sound like one of those touchy random posts about how much I love my friends, but I do love my friends. And I love them because they are all so insane and crazy. None of my friends are remotely ordinary. One who has the mind of a corporate executive and organizes everything to it, one who has the egocentricity of an infant and is always the center of attention or else, one who programs in his free time, one who is so tactless and refreshingly ignorant to pop culture. And all my other friends too. Including one who claims to have an “eclectic personality,” which vaguely sounds like MPD but oh well. It makes life interesting and fun to have such crazy friends. I choose to have insane friends, I will never except to have a normal friends. Normal friends are dull and uneventful. When I get a remotely normal friend, perhaps the world would end.

Pandora: Like a Radio Station, Only Better October 24, 2006

Pandora (http://www.pandora.com) is an interesting service I just discovered. Once you sign up for an account, it asks you to choose a song you like. Put in either a title or an artist, and it will find songs similar to that song or artist’s style and play them like a radio station, only commercial free. Also, you can give a song the thumbs up to play more songs similar to it, or give it the thumbs down to stop playing it and play fewer similar songs. You don’t have to give an opinion on every song. As time passes, in theory, Pandora will get closer and closer to a perfect radio station for you.

You don’t have to limit yourself to one starting song, either. You can create multiple “stations” for yourself, each playing a different kind of music, then shuffle between them though something called “Quick Mix.”

Another nice feature is that you can share your radio stations with other people; just give them the link and they can listen to your station. You can even let people listen to your Quick Mix. It’s a really cool system.

Google such a wide range of languages that you can use for your Google search – all to make it a universal search engine. However, Google doesn’t stop there, they also have upbeat, and interesting, languages available for anybody who cares: Bork bork bork, Elmer Fudd, Pig Latin, and Calvin’s favorite Hacker (a.k.a. |337). Why would you use these? Ummmm…

I love this song and I love these lyrics… The song, if you’re wondering, is on the Cars Soundtrack.
