enough with windows June 28, 2007

so recently i’ve just gotten fed up with windows vista. it is such a pain. the security method is simply block everything. it is such a fucking pain! and i mean, i have an amd 64 processor. it should be fast. nope. vista is a bulky os that slows the machine down… significantly. so i’ve switched over to linux. i recently installed ubuntu feisty fawn onto my computer. of course, at this point i just partitioned my hard disk so i can dual boot. the only reason i want to dual boot is because i can’t play drm aac (mp4 or m4p) files in linux because apple won’t make an itunes for linux. i did find a really good media player though. it’s mozilla songbird. on windows and mac it can access itunes and unlock drm protected files (so my windows side has it installed as well). one cool thing though is that i can access my files from the windows account in ubuntu (it has something to do with how i partitioned it). so i can listen to all my music that isn’t drm protected through linux. which is really good and it makes me happy. i’m still configuring linux and installing programs. but i’m done with vista now.

if i wasn’t itunes dependent i would switch to linux. so i am actually sort of mad at apple for not making a linux version of itunes and it’s really making rather mad. i have all or most of my music files on a nice external hard drive and everything, and there are even ipod managers for linux. but one problem – they can’t play protected aac files.

since the east coast June 26, 2007

so i have some downtime… i think i’m going to give an update as to what has happened since i got back from the east coast. well, first why i haven’t been posting… simply i haven’t really been home that much… i’ve been at work or… not at home – for the most part just talking to people and catching up at ashley pond and starbucks, but there’s been quite a bit going on. so i saw ocean’s 13 twice… once with luke and once with the other wp when they got back from italy (except for paco). and other than that – i saw ocean’s 12 again with marina, who i also watched fantastic 4: rise of the silver surfer with. those are actually really the only movies i’ve watched. that and the first ten or twenty minutes of airplane, when we decided to go play ghost in the graveyard (where quite humorously a cop thought that we were doing suspicious activity and examined us). other than that i had one poker night and also two days of playing ultimate frisbee. by the way, ultimate frisbee is pretty awesome. it’s so much fun. and it’s just great because i really only know maybe 1/4 of the people there and so i’m getting to know people and make new friends which is really nice. i mean nothing absolutely amazing… mostly it’s just been hanging out at the pond (and getting incredibly tanned) and just talking. today, though, i hung out with bryce for a couple hours and he ended up teaching me how to play golf, which was pretty dang awesome i have to say.

okay so it’s been a blast these last few weeks. i mean like bryce i haven’t seen since senior appreciation night which was a month ago. and since then we’ve exchanged like 500 txt messages but we haven’t hung out. so today we played golf. and i had hung out with the rest of the wp when the just got back from italy and exchanged our stories, being about a month since seeing each other. and then having fun playing frisbee with everybody. so the last month has generally been pretty good. but this week, or at least these last two days… suck. but if bad things come in threes, then i’m pretty good for a bit. so yesterday i got grounded. no need for details but i’m grounded for a week. today i got in trouble for going golfing with bryce (since i’m grounded). then i got a speeding ticket. so here’s the thing with the speeding ticket – i was charged for going 63 in a 50. when in reality i was in a 55 zone and my speedometer showed around 58 so that was complete bull. and i mean she didn’t turn her lights on until passing by me (she was in oncoming), which i am sure means that she was looking at my face and decided i was a teenager so she could charge me. she didn’t explain to me very clearly why she said i was in a 50 zone and wouldn’t let me see the meter. that really pissed me off.

well… optimism right? i did learn to play golf! woohoo!

lifehouse’s new album. it’s actually been out for a bit now. it’s called who we are. it’s actually a pretty good album. you have the songs that are quintessential lifehouse that everybody loves, like ‘first time,’ then you have some new sounds. a variety of new sounds actually. you have stuff which is a little more on the rock side, you have some that’s a little more bluesy… some that’re sort of reminiscent of death cab. but the majority is the classic lifehouse we all know and love. but of course the new sounds aren’t bad. in fact for the most part they’re pulled of quite nicely. i like all the songs on the album. here’s the song ‘who we are’ which is more like the classic lifehouse.

a song to fit my mood June 12, 2007

i don’t know why, don’t ask me why. i’m in this indescribably bad mood. it’s sort of a culmination of complete disillusionment accompanied with extreme boredom, some discontent towards my life, and sort of unsurmountable loneliness. i suppose there is some sort of explanation as to why i feel like this, but i just don’t feel like telling the whole world, or at least the two readers of the blog.

Changes – 3 Doors Down

I’m not supposed to be scared of anything
But I don’t know where I am
I wish that I could move but I’m exhausted
And nobody understands
I’m tryin’ hard to breathe now but there’s no air in my lungs
There’s no one here to talk to
And the pain inside is making me numb

I try to hold this, under control
They can’t help me
‘Cause no one knows

Now I’m going through changes, changes
God I feel so frustrated lately
When I get suffocated save me
Now I’m going through changes, changes

I’m feelin’ weak and weary walkin’ through this world alone
Everything I say, every word of it, cuts me to the bone
I’ve got something to say but now I got nowhere to turn
It feels like I’ve been buried underneath all the weight of the world

I try to hold this, under control
They can’t help me
‘Cause no one knows

Now I’m going through changes, changes
God I feel so frustrated lately
When I get suffocated save me
Now I’m going through changes, changes

I’m blind and shaking
Bound and breaking
I hope I make it through all these changes

Now I’m going through changes, changes
God I feel so frustrated lately
When I get suffocated save me
Now I’m falling apart now I feel it

But I’m going through changes, changes
God I feel so frustrated lately
And I get suffocated I hate this
But I’m going through changes, changes

i’m back from vacation! though it wasn’t much of a vacation it was a vacation nonetheless. i love new york!! i absolutely love it! anyhow… while on “vacation” i got a little carried away with my picture-taking. but this is great news! you all should be excited to hear it! because this means that instead of a boring description you get a full-blown photojournal!! and i have some time to burn… i really do want to see ocean’s 13 but i’m determined not to see it alone and see it with a friend so i’m delaying that… which is more good news for you because you get to view this awesome photojournal!! i can’t contain my enthusiasm!
